Millikin University is a co-ed, comprehensive, independent, 4-year university, with traditional undergraduate programs in
Arts & Sciences,
Business,
Fine Arts, and
Professional Studies, as well as non-traditional, adult degree-completion programs(PACE) and graduate programs in Business Administration and Nursing. Millikin is located in
Decatur, Illinois, a
metropolitan area of 68,000 residents, 120 miles north of
St. Louis, 180 miles south of
Chicago, and 150 miles west of
Indianapolis. The campus serves approximately 2,400 students with student/faculty ratio of 11.6 to 1 and an average class size of 21 students. Founded in
1901 by
James Millikin, a prominent Decatur businessman, it's historically affiliated with the
Presbyterian Church (USA).

Decaturian
The
Decaturian, also known as the
Dec (official nickname), is the biweekly student-run newspaper founded in 1903.
The
Decaturian was a charter member of the
Illinois College Press Association
(ICPA) which holds an annual convention in Chicago, IL. The staff of the
Decaturian have received numerous awards from the judged ICPA entries including first place in general excellence from 1999-2003.
George Irish, senior vice president of
The Hearst Corporation, was once affiliated with the
Decaturian.
WJMU 89.5 The Quad
WJMU is Millikin University's student operated radio station.
The Quad is one of Decatur's only Alternative music stations. In addition to its musical responsibilities, WJMU also creates its own Public Service Announcements, liners, News, Millikin Sports Programming and Promotional materials.
